About This Spot

Stepping into The Salt Cafe, perched on the third floor just a stone’s throw from the Taj Mahal, feels like discovering a layered cityscape of flavors and moods. The space carries a thoughtful balance between a gently sophisticated vibe and a welcoming warmth — somewhere between upscale dining and a lively neighborhood spot. The hum of quiet conversations blends with the clink of glasses, inviting you to slow down and soak in a moment that is both familiar and just a little bit special.

The pace here is unhurried, giving room for connection, whether you’ve come for a casual meal with family or an intimate evening with friends. The lighting is soft, casting subtle shadows that make the space feel cozy yet open. There’s a careful attention to ambiance that hints at a world beyond the immediate city, inspired by the rich mingling of cultures reflected in the menu — from North Indian classics to Italian plates, with unexpected nods to Mexican and Middle Eastern touches.

Dining at The Salt Cafe isn’t just about the food; it’s about how those flavors come together to frame the experience. You might find yourself savoring the comforting warmth of a butter chicken pasta or the playful textures of a mezze platter as laughter threads through the air. The bar quietly hums with crafted cocktails waiting to be discovered, perfect for unwinding or sparking conversation. And while the menu journeys across continents, each dish carries a homey note, inviting you to linger over something like the rich depth of a tandoori veg platter or the subtle spice of paneer tikka.

The venue’s setting — near one of the world’s most iconic landmarks — adds a layer of intimacy to the visit. You’re tucked away in a place where local and global sensibilities meet, giving visitors a chance to explore Agra’s culinary landscape with a gentle polish but without losing the charm of genuine human moments. The Salt Cafe thrives quietly between the spaces of a casual family restaurant, a tasteful pub, and a relaxed café, making it a versatile stop for many occasions.

Though the surroundings reflect a touch of refinement, the mood never feels distant — it’s a place where friendly faces meet curious palates, and where the occasional wait only becomes a chance to settle in and appreciate the atmosphere a little longer. Whether you’re pausing mid-journey or settling in to start one, The Salt Cafe holds space for something that feels simultaneously thoughtful and inviting.

Good upscale place to taste local dishes in a nice and "fancier" environment. Perfect if you are not daring to enter a local restaurant with simpler atmosphere. We ordered several dishes but compared to more simple restaurants the food wasnt on par.

I joined my family here after driving up from Delhi to grab a quick bite to eat. We had a great experience here and service was very friendly. The food itself tasted great as well. My only downside was the slight wait time, though the attentiveness and atmosphere made up for it. Would visit again!

Amazing ambience - Starters are absolutely mouth watering and delicious. Main course was not that good the day we went. There was a burnt smell and taste in Dal makhani which took almost an hour to come. Overall experience was 4/5. Must Try - Stuffed Mushroom, Mix Sauce Pasta, Veg Dimsums.

The Salt Cafe has amazing ambience and their kebab was excellent too! We tried some fried rice, curry, pizza and lemon soda as well. All were excellent. Getting on the elevator and up to the restaurant was a little difficult due to ongoing construction but otherwise it was easy to access.

This is THE place to go in Agra! Amazing tasting food with very nice ambiance. Highly recommend the non veg platter and Mugh Mali Mirchi.. Both came out really good.

Has everything a party, group family or friends want as a chill out place. Music is too good, sound quality was awesome. Interiors and ambient was bit older or less attractive as compared to other cafes nearby. Food was great not excellent.

Offers a stylish, contemporary setting with indoor and rooftop seating. The rooftop area provides panoramic views of the Taj Mahal, which is especially appealing at sunset and for evening dinners. The venue serves as a café, restaurant, bar & grill, and pub, and often features live music or DJ nights that attract a younger crowd and visitors looking for nightlife experiences in Agra. The menu is diverse, featuring Indian, Continental, Asian, Italian, Mexican, and pub-style dishes with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. It is often recommended as one of the top cafés/restaurants near the Taj Mahal and a memorable stop after sightseeing.

Slightly more luxurious rooftop restaurant that was very cozy, with great service and good drinks and beer. We ordered three starters and the portions were generous – everything was very tasty. The interior design was stylish and a bit cool, creating a nice atmosphere. The restrooms were clean and fresh. The only downside was that they started a DJ with very loud music, a smoke machine, and lots of lighting effects already at 9:00 PM, while many people were still eating. It felt a bit too intense at that point. Overall, a nice and pleasant place that is definitely worth a visit.
